Softball Recap: Rock Ridge Comes Up Short

Rock Ridge had lost three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 6-10 to make it four. They lost 18-2 to the Tuscarora Huskies. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 last Thursday.

Rock Ridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riya Cherukuri, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Tuscarora, they now have a winning record of 6-5. The game marked their most dominant victory of the season.

On Tuscarora's side, they got a great performance from Lily Walker as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over 4.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, Chloe Wools was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paige Hahn, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rock Ridge will take on Loudoun Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Phoenix's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Tuscarora, they will face off against Millbrook at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Huskies' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
