Baseball Recap: Stringer Red Devils vs. Puckett Wolves
Stringer had lost eight straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it nine. They fell 7-4 to the Puckett Wolves. The Red Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wolves apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.
As for Puckett, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.
For Puckett's part, Wilkes Carter made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Carter has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tim Axton, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February of 2025.
