Softball Game Preview: Pittsfield Saukees vs. West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars

The Pittsfield Saukees will head out to challenge the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pittsfield will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Monday, Pittsfield got the win against North Greene by a conclusive 16-1. Considering the Saukees have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Emma Henry made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Henry was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Pittsfield let Kinlee Griggs and Grace Henry run wild. Griggs went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Henry went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those RBI were Griggs' first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lila Simon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Pittsfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] fell victim to Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 13-0 to the Trojans. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs]'s loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pittsfield, their record now sits at 6-1.

Pittsfield took their win against West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 19-8.
