Recap: Hortonville Polar Bears vs. Kaukauna Galloping Ghosts
The Hortonville Polar Bears pushed their score all the way to 68 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 77-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of Kaukauna. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (61), Hortonville still had to take the loss.
Hortonville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Joling, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. The contest was Joling's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Riley Mueller was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Hortonville and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Kaukauna, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hortonville will be home for the holidays to greet Fort Atkinson at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Kaukauna will be home for the holidays to greet Appleton West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Appleton West is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
