Football Recap: Wilsonville Wildcats vs. Silverton Foxes
Wilsonville extended their postseason success on Friday against Silverton. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Silverton Foxes 32-29. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Mark Wiepert was his usual excellent self, rushing for 163 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also throwing for 264 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes. Those 163 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Keona Tam also helped out as he racked up 107 receiving yards.
Wilsonville wouldn't let Silverton keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Wilsonville can thank Riddick Molatore and Blake Dougherty for forcing both of them. Carter Christiansen was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, making nine total tackles, and defending two passes.
Wilsonville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for Silverton, the defeat snapped their winning streak at eight games and leaves them with a 10-2 record.
Wilsonville is on the road again on Friday to play Mountain View. Mountain View will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something Wilsonville surely won't give up without a fight. Silverton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
