Baseball Recap: Columbus North Wins Going Away Against Seymour

Columbus North had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 5-7 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They put the hurt on the Seymour Owls with a sharp 11-0 win. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Bull Dogs yet this season.

Columbus North got a great performance from Joey Fry as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Fry also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bull Dogs are 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Brock Kintner was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jesse Clark was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.

As for Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 10-3. They were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the three games prior), but Columbus North's pitchers proved too tough.

On Seymour's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Harpe, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbus North will square off against Cathedral at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bull Dogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Fighting Irish have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season. As for Seymour, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Austin at 6:00 p.m.
