The Colton Wildcats will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Dayton Bulldogs at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Colton lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Asotin, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's matchup. Colton blew past Asotin 15-4 on Thursday.
Kiya Soza made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Soza was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Colton got a massive performance out of Clair Moehrle, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Mere Bell, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
Colton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Asotin only managed eight hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dayton). Everything went their way against Touchet on Thursday as Dayton made off with an 18-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Redhawks: they've now won three in a row.
Like Colton, Dayton also got a great game from a two-way player: Lucy Trump. On the mound, she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Trump was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexa Jones, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Marissa Tupling was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
The victory got Dayton back to even at 2-2. As for Colton, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
