Softball Recap: Vilonia Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Vilonia took a 15-run loss the last time they faced off against Bentonville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Eagles skirted past the Tigers 6-4. For the Eagles, this counts as revenge for the 15-0 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2019.

Lynnlee Rowan looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Olivia Cates, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Vilonia's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-3. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Bentonville, they moved to 21-3 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Vilonia will head out on the road to square off against Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bentonville, they will host Sheridan at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
