Basketball Game Preview: Musselman Applemen vs. Parkersburg Big Reds

Musselman is a perfect 5-0 against Parkersburg since February of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. Having just played yesterday, the Musselman Applemen will head out on the road to face off against the Parkersburg Big Reds at 3:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Friday, Musselman was beaten by Spring Mills 77-36. While losing is never fun, the Applemen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Cardinals are ranked first).

Meanwhile, Parkersburg came up short against Parkersburg South on Thursday and fell 76-69.

Parkersburg has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Musselman, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-10.

Musselman strolled past Parkersburg in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a score of 61-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Musselman since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
