Soccer Game Preview: Liberty vs. Greenwood

The Liberty Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Greenwood Rangers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Liberty's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Snyder as Liberty made off with a 7-0 win. The Patriots' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

They hit Snyder with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Bella Cavazos (2), Alyssa Cuevas (2), Amelia Martinez (2), and Addy Evans.

Meanwhile, Greenwood had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 goals) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past the Chiefs 6-0. Considering the Rangers have won four games by more than four goals this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Greenwood's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-4-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 19 goals over those three matches. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 3-1-2.

Liberty suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Greenwood in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
