Basketball Recap: Laney Comes Up Short

Laney suffered their biggest defeat since December 10, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 74-32 loss at the hands of the Douglass Astros. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-13.

Douglass got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Niles out in front who went 9-for-12 on his way to 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Brandon Battle was another key player, shooting 55% from the field to rack up 14 points and four steals.

Laney's defeat dropped their record down to 1-2. As for Douglass, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Laney wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-52 victory against Lakeside on the 22nd. As for Douglass, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-70 loss against Mays on the 22nd.
