Baseball Game Preview: Sabetha Bluejays vs. Hesston Swathers

The Sabetha Bluejays will face off against the Hesston Swathers at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The last three games Sabetha has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Sabetha is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Jefferson West get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Bluejays have posted since April 28th.

Not much got past Mitchel Kramer, who gave up just four hits to keep Jefferson West off the board. Kramer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Sabetha's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Wenger, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Hesston entered their tilt with Silver Lake on Thursday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with an 11-6 win over the Eagles. Hesston's victory was all the more impressive since the Eagles were averaging only 3.86 runs allowed on the season.

Blayne Wilson was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Hesston is undefeated when Wilson posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Gabe Mowry was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three runs.

Hesston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matches.

Sabetha is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hesston, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.
