Baseball Recap: Estancia Comes Up Short

After flying high against Thoreau on Thursday, Estancia came back down to earth. The Bears came up short against the Raton Tigers on Friday, falling 11-5. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Joshua Villafuerte made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Estancia's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is 2-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Leon Maxwell-Preisen, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Estancia's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Raton, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-10 record this season.
