Basketball Recap: Watkins Memorial Takes a Loss

Watkins Memorial lost against Mt. Vernon back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Watkins Memorial Warriors took a 63-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 188th).

Watkins Memorial has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Mt. Vernon, they pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watkins Memorial has already played their next game (against Heath), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Mt. Vernon has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Lakewood.
