Volleyball Recap: NorthWood Panthers vs. New Prairie Cougars

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but NorthWood had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the New Prairie Cougars. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.

NorthWood got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 30-32, 25-17, 25-19.

NorthWood can attribute much of their success to Anna Roeder, who had 16 digs and two aces. Roeder is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in the last six games she's played.

NorthWood was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in eight consecutive matches.

Despite the defeat, New Prairie had strong showings from Josie Woodham, who had ten digs, and Randi Robakowski, who had eight digs and two aces.

NorthWood is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 29-6 record this season. As for New Prairie, they moved to 23-12 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

NorthWood is on the road again on Saturday to play New Castle at 12:00 p.m. New Castle will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something NorthWood surely won't give up without a fight. New Prairie does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
