Volleyball Recap: Huron Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Avery Bork and Adelyn Van Sickle

Huron dropped to 10-4 on Saturday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gilmour Academy Lancers. Surprisingly, this marked the Tigers' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Huron's loss came despite strong showings from Adelyn Van Sickle and Avery Bork. Van Sickle had 17 digs and one assist, while Bork had nine digs. Van Sickle has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last four times she's played. Maggie Orzech also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.

As for Gilmour Academy, they now have a winning record of 7-6. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Huron: they've now won five in a row.

Gilmour Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mira Siebert out in front who had seven digs and six aces. What's more, Siebert racked up 34 assists, the most she's had over her last six games. Avery Martin was another key player, getting 18 digs.

Huron and Gilmour Academy should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Tigers will take on Vermilion at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (124 vs. 516). Meanwhile, Gilmour Academy (ranked 29th) will meet Walsh Jesuit (ranked 136th) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
