Baseball Recap: Miyamura Comes Up Short

Miyamura was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chinle Wildcats.

Felix Lopez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

Lopez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Ashley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another was Seth Torres, who scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Miyamura's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Chinle, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Miyamura has already played their next contest, a 9-0 victory against Kirtland Central on the 8th. As for Chinle, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-0 win against Monument Valley on the 7th.
