It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Lakeland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over the Oscar Smith Tigers. This was payback for the Cavaliers, who suffered a 10-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Lakeland is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oscar Smith, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will square off against Norcom at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cavaliers are facing the Greyhounds at the right time seeing as the Greyhounds are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Oscar Smith, they will challenge Green Run at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: the Stallions will have lost 17 straight heading into Wednesday's game.
