Softball Game Preview: Providence Academy Patriots vs. Huntsville Eagles

The Providence Academy Patriots will challenge the Huntsville Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Providence Academy came up short against Siloam Springs on Friday, falling 10-4. The loss continues a trend for the Patriots in their meetings with the Panthers: they've now lost four in a row.

Providence Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abby Roy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs Roy has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Camden Griggs, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Huntsville lost 20-6 to Ozark on Friday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Mallory Harvey was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off 11 hits. Harvey was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Ashton Miller made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. Kassidy Oberan was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Providence Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Huntsville, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Providence Academy couldn't quite finish off Huntsville in their previous meeting back in March of 2019 and fell 6-4. Can Providence Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
