Football Recap: Battle Creek Braves vs. Cross County Cougars
Battle Creek took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cross County Cougars 41-0 at home. Given the Braves' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Cougars are ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wyatt Nierodzik was a one-man wrecking crew for Battle Creek as he rushed for 141 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Nierodzik's also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making four total tackles. Conner Neuhalfen was in the mix as well, providing Battle Creek with a fumble recovery touchdown touchdowns.
Battle Creek will square off against Aquinas on Friday. As for Cross County, they will look to take advantage of their home-field for the first time this season as they take on Gibbon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cross County focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday.
