Cathedral came into Friday's matchup looking for another win against San Elizario, but Nathan Rios wouldn't allow it. The Eagles walked away with a 43-34 win over the Fighting Irish on Friday for which the team can thank Rios, who rushed for 181 yards on only 14 carries, and also threw for 81 yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an impressive 58 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

San Elizario didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Freddy Garcia and Vincent Delgado.

Several Fighting Irish players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Pedro Chavez, who rushed for 113 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 100 yards and a pair of TDs. Another receiver making a difference was Diego Sanchez, who picked up 97 receiving yards and two scores.

San Elizario has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 33.0 points this season. As for Cathedral, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, San Elizario will challenge Ysleta at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Eagles' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Cathedral, they will square off against Anthony at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
