Basketball Game Preview: Southwood Cowboys vs. Minden Crimson Tide

The Southwood Cowboys will face off against the Minden Crimson Tide at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Tuesday, Southwood ended up a good deal behind Booker T. Washington-Shreveport and lost 78-59. The Cowboys have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Lyquinton Pinkney, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Bryson Williams was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to six assists and three steals.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Minden, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against Northwood on Tuesday as Minden made off with a 66-42 victory. The Crimson Tide have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Minden pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 28.5 points. As for Southwood, their loss dropped their record down to 7-16.

Southwood strolled past Minden in their previous meeting back in November of 2015 by a score of 64-49. Will Southwood repeat their success, or does Minden have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
