Basketball Recap: Rancho Bernardo Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rancho Bernardo had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Oceanside Pirates as they made off with a 66-41 victory. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while the Pirates are ranked 764th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rancho Bernardo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lucas Winkler, who posted 14 points. Evan Woodland was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Despite the loss, Oceanside still got an impressive performance from Jaeliin Watts, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Miller, who had four points and five boards.

Rancho Bernardo is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points over those games. Oceanside has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season.

Rancho Bernardo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-52 win against Mount Miguel on the 21st. Oceanside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
