Football Recap: Melba Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Melba and New Plymouth pushed the score to 36-34 the last time they played New Plymouth, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Mustangs and the Pilgrims were almost perfectly matched up, but the Mustangs suffered a 7-6 loss. The game marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Melba still got an impressive performance from Rhett Franklin, who rushed for 131 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Franklin really tore up the turf during one magnificent 82-yard run.

Melba is on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5. As for New Plymouth, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Melba is taking a road trip to face off against Nampa Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for New Plymouth, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Parma at 7:00 p.m. The Pilgrims will be up against the Panthers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41.2 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
