The Providence Athletic Club Panthers are taking a road trip to square off against the Asheville T Trailblazers at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Providence Athletic Club is looking for their season's first victory.
Providence Athletic Club came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss on Saturday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Lowcountry Wildcats Athletics by a score of 6-4 on Saturday.
Providence Athletic Club saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was James Britt, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Sean Mcnulty also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Asheville T never let their opponents score on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Bethel Christian Academy. Considering the Trailblazers have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Stephen Covington was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Asheville T: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Joel Kissinger was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Dalton Galloway, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Asheville T has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. Providence Athletic Club's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Providence Athletic Club has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Asheville T struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
