Baseball Recap: Pelham Takes a Loss

Souhegan hit Pelham with a nine-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pythons lost 14-4 to the Sabers. The Pythons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Sabers from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

James Patchen made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Pelham's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5. As for Souhegan, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-1.

Looking ahead, Pelham will head out to take on Milford at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.82 runs per game on average), something the Pythons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Souhegan, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Hanover at 4:30 p.m. The Sabers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
