Softball Recap: Northwestern Warriors vs. Greeneview Rams
Northwestern took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 20-1 margin over the Greeneview Rams. The win was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.
Sophia Pamer and Ellee Hughes made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Pamer tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Hughes pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At the plate, Pamer scored a run while going 2-for-4, while Hughes scored a run while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Northwestern got a massive performance out of Olivia Deane, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. Julia Shaw was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3.
Northwestern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greeneview only posted an OBP of .214.
Greeneview's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northwestern will head out to face off against Miami East at 5:00 p.m. on March 27th. As for Greeneview, they will venture away from home to take on Shawnee at 5:15 p.m. on Friday.
