Basketball Game Preview: Tustin Tillers vs. Newport Harbor Sailors

The Tustin Tillers and the Newport Harbor Sailors will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Newport Harbor is hoping to do what Live Oak couldn't on Friday: put an end to Tustin's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Tustin breezed by Live Oak to the tune of 63-34. Given the Tillers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 211th, while the Acorns are ranked 679th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Newport Harbor got the win against Mission Viejo on Friday by a conclusive 75-53. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sailors.

Tustin is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.0 points per game. As for Newport Harbor, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.

Tustin and Newport Harbor were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup on December 7th, but Tustin came up empty-handed after a 61-60 defeat. Can Tustin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
