Soccer Game Preview: North Henderson vs. Tuscola

The North Henderson Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Tuscola Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

North Henderson can't be too worried about heading out to take on Tuscola: they just beat Smoky Mountain at home, who had been dominant on their own pitch up to that point. The Knights came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 3-1 on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given North Henderson's disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 336th, while Smoky Mountain are ranked 130th).

Leticia Uvalle and Reese Smith scored all three of North Henderson's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Meanwhile, Tuscola waltzed into their game on Monday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 1-0 W against the Panthers. That's two games straight that Tuscola have won by just one goal.

Tuscola pushed their record up to 10-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those five contests. As for North Henderson, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-9.

North Henderson couldn't quite get it done against Tuscola when the teams last played back in March as they fell 5-3. Can the Knights avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
