Basketball Recap: Ravenna Comes Up Short

Ravenna lost against Crestwood back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Ravenna Ravens were outmatched by the Crestwood Red Devils and fell 78-44. While losing is never fun, the Ravens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 701st, while the Red Devils are ranked 85th).

Crestwood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was James Durham, who went 8 of 10 en route to 19 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Durham a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Steven Lincoln, who went 9 of 16 on his way to 22 points.

Ravenna's loss was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Crestwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 8-0.

It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Ravenna Ravens face off against the Field Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. As for Crestwood, they will venture away from home to take on Rootstown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Crestwood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Rootstown likes a good challenge.
