The Northwest Mustangs will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Meadville Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on February 17th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Northwest scored the most points they've had all season to find success last Tuesday. They blew past Cole Camp 66-15 on the road. The win was just what Northwest needed coming off of a 61-31 defeat in their prior match.
Meanwhile, Meadville put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 80-30 victory over Grundy County/Newtown-Harris at home. Meadville pushed the score to 64-26 by the end of the third, a deficit Grundy County/Newtown-Harris had no chance of recovering from.
Meadville can attribute much of their success to Korrie Holcer, who scored 23 points along with seven assists and seven steals, and Madison Carvajal, who shot 5-for-8 from long range and dropped a double-double on 27 points and ten rebounds. Carvajal is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Carvajal, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Northwest's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Meadville, their win bumped their record up to 25-0.
