Baseball Game Preview: Badin Rams vs. Lakota West Firebirds

Badin is a perfect 4-0 against Lakota West since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Badin 1.8, Lakota West 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Lakota West will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Badin extended their winning streak to four on Monday. The Rams never let Elder get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. That's two games straight that the Rams have won by exactly four runs.

Not much got past Caleb Driessen, who gave up just three hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Elder off the board. Driessen has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Badin saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Vangen, who went 1-for-2 with two runs. Another was Cade Cummins, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Lakota West's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Lakota East by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Firebirds have suffered since April 12th.

Badin's victory was their 13th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lakota West, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.

Badin skirted past Lakota West 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Firebirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
