Basketball Recap: Zainab Mcelhinney's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Triangle Math & Science over Clover Garden School

Triangle Math & Science was the 52-42 winner over Clover Garden School when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. The Triangle Math & Science Tigers took a 25-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clover Garden School Grizzlies.

Triangle Math & Science's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zainab Mcelhinney, who posted seven points in addition to 13 boards and six blocks. Triangle Math & Science is 8-2 when Mcelhinney posts eight or more rebounds, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Noor Rana, who earned eight points.

Even though they lost, Triangle Math & Science smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in 16 consecutive matches.

Clover Garden School got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Carly Little out in front who scored five points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Nikole Weed, who had five points.

Triangle Math & Science's defeat dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Clover Garden School, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-7.

As of now, neither Triangle Math & Science nor Clover Garden School have any future games scheduled.
