Volleyball Recap: Aztec Starts Season with Loss on the Road + How To Watch

Aztec had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They fell 3-1 to the Crownpoint Eagles. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it eight in a row.

Aztec started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-20, 25-23, 25-12.

Khloe Schmidt paced Aztec's offense, picking up 11 kills. Schmidt got some help from Jazzlyn Gomez and her 13 assists. Finally, Gomez was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Aztec will head out on the road to take on Dulce at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crownpoint, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cuba at 6:00 p.m. on September 9.
