Softball Game Preview: Cascade Champions vs. Cannon County Lions

The Cascade Champions will venture away from home to challenge the Cannon County Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Cascade's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Grundy County as they made off with a 12-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Champions' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Hunter Burt was a standout: she scored a run while going 2-for-3. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Alivia Fannin, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cannon County). They put the hurt on Smith County with a sharp 13-0 win on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Anna Wood was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kurstin Warrick was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Cannon County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Cannon County's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Cascade, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Everything went Cascade's way against Cannon County in their previous matchup back in March, as Cascade made off with an 8-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Champions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
