Softball Recap: Five Straight Road Victories for Stillwater

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Stillwater ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Centennial Cougars, sneaking past 4-2. The win continues a trend for the Ponies in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won six in a row.

Ella Weisser looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Maya Schroeder was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Stillwater pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.4 runs over those games. As for Centennial, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stillwater will welcome Irondale at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Centennial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Champlin Park at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 2.9, the Rebels 1.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
