Basketball Recap: Mountain View Piles Up the Points Against Queen Creek

The third road match was the charm for Mountain View, as they earned their first road win of the season. They blew past the Queen Creek Bulldogs, posting a 56-25 win. That's more bragging rights for the Toros, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Shalaya Roberson was her usual excellent self, going 7 of 13 en route to 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Kaitlyn Christensen was another key player, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Despite the defeat, Queen Creek saw an underclassman step up: freshman Amaya Rodgers posted 11 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 44% of Queen Creek's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Samarah Garduno, who posted seven points.

Mountain View picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3. As for Queen Creek, they dropped their record down to 2-8 with the loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Mountain View and South Mountain will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.2 points per game this season. As for Queen Creek, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 71-16 defeat against Chandler on the 13th.
