The Skyridge Falcons will face off against the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Skyridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Skyridge's tournament run continued when they took on Pahrump Valley on Saturday. Skyridge fell just short of Pahrump Valley by a score of 10-9.
Awtumn Lorenzo was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Peyton Hall was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Lorenzo wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Skyridge lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Timpanogos entered their tilt with Legacy on Saturday with five consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with six. Everything went their way against the Longhorns as they made off with a 12-1 win. The Timberwolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.
Shaylie Lang made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Madison Young was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kelci Gingras, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Timpanogos' victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Skyridge, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Skyridge hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .341. However, it's not like Timpanogos struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Skyridge took their win against Timpanogos in their previous meeting back in April of 2019 by a conclusive 11-2. Does Skyridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Timpanogos turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
