Volleyball Recap: Ferguson Comes Up Short

If Ferguson was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Southwest on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Falcons fell just short of the Archbishop Carroll Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Falcons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Ferguson wouldn't go down easily and took Archbishop Carroll into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-14, 17-25, 18-25, 15-8.

Elynn Guzman paced Ferguson's offense, picking up eight kills. Guzman got some help from Elizabeth Munizaga and her 17 assists. Finally, Mianah Titus kept Ferguson's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Ferguson has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Archbishop Carroll, their win ended a six-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12.

Ferguson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against Coral Gables on the 4th. As for Archbishop Carroll, they will face off against Doral Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
