Basketball Recap: Weslaco Takes a Loss

If Weslaco was riding high fresh off their 71-29 takedown of Laredo LBJ on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Weslaco Panthers had to suffer through a 68-41 loss at the hands of the Wagner Thunderbirds. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Thunderbirds from their previous meeting back in February of 2016.

It was another big night for La Sneed, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, nine boards, and 11 assists for Wagner. Sneed's afternoon made it 20 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Nia Mcbride, who posted 13 points.

With the defeat, Weslaco broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-7. As for Wagner, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season.

Weslaco wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 57-41 victory against United on the 7th. As for Wagner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-57 win against United South on the 7th.
