Basketball Recap: Monticello Comes Up Short

Monticello was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the James River Knights, falling 47-27. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 368th, while the Knights are ranked 95th).

Monticello's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for James River, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-1.

Monticello will challenge Orange County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monticello is facing Orange County at the right time seeing as Orange County is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for James River, they will square off against Patrick County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
