Baseball Game Preview: South Johnston Trojans vs. West Johnston Wildcats

The South Johnston Trojans are taking a road trip to challenge the West Johnston Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

West Johnston will be up against a hot South Johnston squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. South Johnston had just enough and edged out East Wake 4-2.

West Johnston hadn't beaten Hunt on the road since April 22, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. West Johnston narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Hunt 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted since March 4th.

West Johnston has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. South Johnston's win bumped their record up to 8-4.

South Johnston suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to West Johnston in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can South Johnston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
