Basketball Recap: Red Cloud Comes Up Short

Red Cloud lost against Shelton back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Red Cloud Warriors took a 41-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Shelton Bulldogs. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Red Cloud saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aiva Rust posted 17 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rust has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Brown, who earned seven points.

Red Cloud now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Shelton, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Red Cloud won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Alma at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Shelton, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ravenna at 4:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
