Softball Game Preview: Seminole Warhawks vs. Pinellas Park Patriots

Seminole is 8-2 against Pinellas Park since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Warhawks will welcome the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Seminole turned things around against St. Petersburg on Monday. They came out on top against the Green Devils by a score of 11-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Warhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by ten runs or more this season.

Lilly Johnson looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kaydin Whitenton was a standout: she scored four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Angelina Gomez, who scored three runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Seminole always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .659. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Pinellas Park got themselves on the board against Countryside on Tuesday, but Countryside never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Cougars. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Patriots this season.

Ayanah Wilson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. Wilson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Danielle Overman was incredible, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3. Bella Birge was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.

Seminole's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Pinellas Park, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
