Basketball Game Preview: Colby Eagles vs. Hugoton Eagles

Colby will square off against Hugoton at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Tuesday, Colby opened the new year with a less-than-successful 46-34 defeat to Hoxie. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while the Indians are ranked 12th).

Meanwhile, Hugoton can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They really took it to Ulysses for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-23 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 29 points or more this season.

The victory got Hugoton back to even at 4-4. As for Colby, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 4-4.

Colby got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February of 2025 against Hugoton by a conclusive 55-31 score. Will Colby repeat their success, or does Hugoton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
