Volleyball Recap: Providence Takes a Loss

Providence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Channel Islands Raiders. If the Patriots were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Raiders when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The 2-1 doesn't really show just how close this match was: all the sets Providence lost were decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-23, 15-13.

Riley Luna was the offensive standout of the matchup as he had 14 digs and two aces. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 14 or more in each of the last three games he's played.

Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Channel Islands, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-5.

Providence didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Pacifica on the 18th. As for Channel Islands, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Ventura on the 18th.
