Basketball Game Preview: Maclay Marauders vs. Chiles Timberwolves

Maclay hasn't had much luck against Chiles recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Maclay Marauders just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome the Chiles Timberwolves at 6:30 p.m. Maclay's defense has only allowed 28.6 points per game this season, so Chiles' offense will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Maclay came up short against Rocky Bayou Christian and fell 52-39.

Meanwhile, Chiles was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-35 heartbreaker at the hands of Maclay.

Maclay will need focus on slowing down Lainey Crisafulli, one of several Chiles players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 24 points and five rebounds. That was a full 68.6% of Chiles' points, marking the third time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ariana Knapp, who had two points and 23 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Chiles smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Chiles' defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Maclay, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Maclay skirted past Chiles 38-35 when the teams last played on Friday. Will Maclay repeat their success, or does Chiles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
