One of these days, a Northern California team will give the De La Salle (Concord) football team a game.

The Spartans have gone a remarkable 304 games since a Northern California team has beaten the Spartans, that coming in the 1991 North Coast Section championship game.

One team that gave De La Salle a truly tough tussle was the team it faces Friday night, San Ramon Valley (Danville).

The Wolves dropped a 28-27 game at De La Salle in 2016, missing on a two-point conversion in the final minute of the game.

On Friday, it doesn't figure to be so close.

Since a season-opening loss to nationally-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas, the Spartans (7-1) have won seven straight and outscored opponents 349-79.

They are led offensively by quarterback Dorian Hale, the all-around play of Shamar Garrett and a long list of top receivers, including Grant Daley.

San Ramon Valley (5-2) is combing off a big 23-16 win over Clayton Valley Charter. Quarterback Jack Quigley has looked excellent for a sophomore with 12 touchdown passes and just three interceptions. Jacob Himan eads the team in rushing with 550 and five touchdowns.
Shamar Garrett has scored touchdowns rushing, receiving on punt returns and a fumble return. He's also thrown a touchdown pass.
