Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of KAMARION FAGAIRO and MICHAEL CHANEY JR Lead Schurz to Victory

Schurz had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 75-49 margin over the Lake View Wildcats. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Wildcats on their court since January 3, 2022.

Leading Schurz to victory were MICHAEL CHANEY JR and KAMARION FAGAIRO. CHANEY JR went 10-for-15 to rack up 28 points along with six assists and six boards, while FAGAIRO shot 72% from the field en route to 27 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was CHANEY JR's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was CAMERON TRENT, who posted five points and eight rebounds.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Schurz was working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake View only posted three.

When it comes to explaining why Lake View lost, don't look at LeDarrell Goss El. Despite the final result, he put up 19 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Tysean Davis was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Schurz has already played their next game, a 79-53 win against Blue Island Eisenhower on the 25th. As for Lake View, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 78-65 victory against Lycee Francais de Chicago on the 25th.
