Baseball Game Preview: Huron Tigers vs. Firelands Falcons

The Huron Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Firelands Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

On Wednesday, Huron didn't have quite enough to beat Ross and fell 5-4.

Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Firelands made sure to put some runs up on the board against Oberlin on Thursday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Phoenix with a sharp 18-6 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by ten runs or more this season.

Brayden Alberti made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Alberti was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, AJ Ridenour was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Firelands' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 4-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Garrison Lee, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

Firelands kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Firelands has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Huron, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-9.

Huron got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Firelands by a conclusive 11-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
